Why employers must rethink caregiver support
Caregiving is no longer just a personal issue, it’s a business issue. Across industries, employees are balancing the demands of work with caring for children, aging relatives and loved ones with health needs. The impact on the workforce is profound: higher stress, lower engagement and greater turnover.
Forward-looking employers are recognising that supporting caregivers isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s a business imperative. Those who provide practical, inclusive caregiving solutions are seeing the benefits in improved retention, stronger employee well-being, and enhanced productivity.

Turning insight into action
To help employers take the next step, we partnered with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with the support of the Türkiye Donor Fund to develop Care Compass, a first-of-its-kind tool dedicated to the care economy.
Care Compass provides organisations with a structured pathway to design and implement caregiving support. It combines:
- Awareness-building eLearning for HR and leadership teams.
- An action-planning tool that helps businesses create tailored solutions.
How employers can use Care Compass
Care Compass is designed to be flexible and adapt to different organisational needs:
- Asynchronous learning: Employees can complete it at their own pace, with progress automatically saved.
- Self-guided team sessions: HR or leadership groups can use it for internal workshops to assess and plan caregiving support.
- Strategic planning tool: Larger organisations can integrate it into long-term workforce strategies.
What we’re seeing
At its launch, more than 70 participants engaged with the Care Compass introductory webinar. Early feedback described it as a “game changer” and “excellent support” in becoming an employer of choice. The interest highlights a broader truth: businesses want to do more to support caregivers, they just need practical ways to start.
The bigger picture
As demographic shifts accelerate, the demand for employer-supported care will only grow. Employers that act now will not only strengthen their workforce but also position themselves as leaders in a changing economy.
Care Compass, available for free through the EBRD eLearning platform, is just one example of how organisations can begin this journey.
