- Award recognised AA College Restaurant of the Year entrant with the best promotional video
- The Brasserie chosen as public’s winner with 3,300 votes cast in online poll
Performance and talent management consultancy People 1st has announced The Brasserie at Milton Keynes College as the winner of its inaugural People’s Choice Award.
The award, which was exclusively open to colleges that have been both accredited by People 1st and awarded an AA College Rosette, recognised the college restaurant with the most popular video entry, as voted for by the public.
The video entries were originally put together for the People 1st-sponsored AA College Restaurant of the Year Award earlier this year. As part of their submission, entrants were asked to create a short advert to promote their college restaurant.
Over 3,300 votes were cast in the online People’s Choice poll, which saw The Brasserie scoop the prize ahead of close runner-up, The Waterfront at Doncaster College.
Winning the award is the culmination of an exciting couple of months for the Buckinghamshire-based college restaurant, which was also named one of the three finalists for the AA College Restaurant of the Year Award, just losing out to Foxholes Restaurant at Runshaw College at the awards ceremony in September.
Martine Pullen, director of membership and consulting at People 1st commented: “Huge congratulations to the team at Milton Keynes College on winning the People’s Choice Award. It was a fiercely-fought contest and they did a wonderful job of showcasing the excellent work that The Brasserie is doing to prepare the hospitality staff of tomorrow.
“We were so impressed by the fantastic quality of all the college restaurants that entered the AA College Restaurant of the Year award that we felt they all deserved another chance to be recognised for their outstanding work and dedication. That’s why we launched the People’s Choice Award. I hope this will encourage more employers to work in partnership with accredited colleges.”
Endorsed by a group of leading hospitality employers, including Exclusive Hotels and Hilton, People 1st’s college accreditation scheme helps hospitality businesses find quality colleges and work-based providers who can support them with recruitment and training and development.
