Third English National Skills Summit takes place

Brian Wisdom & Shaun WoodwardShaun Woodward MP (Minister for Tourism and Creative Industries) chaired the third session in the development of a National Skills Strategy for Tourism at the British Academy on October 26th.

The Minister heard submissions from industry working groups chaired by Neal Young, Sara Edwards, Sean Taggart and David Nicholls. Also in attendance were stakeholders from leading trade bodies including the British Hospitality Association (BHA), the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and regional development agencies, along with representatives from the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the Department of Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS).

People1st and DCMS have worked closely together to arrange this series of summits. A fourth and final meeting will be held in early 2007 to sign off the resulting strategy.
