Mission And Role

The Academy's role

To identify, endorse and promote qualifications and learning opportunities which are delivered to National Skills Academy standards. This delivery may take place in universities, colleges of further education, employer businesses and dedicated hospitality schools. It's role is also to:

  • Focus on the areas related to management and leadership, customer service and craft skills which are central to addressing the industry challenges
  • Innovate and provide franchisable solutions
  • Ensure that funding is available where ever to support excellence in hospitality training.

The Academy's mission

To develop a brand which is universally trusted as the benchmark for excellence in hospitality training

  • Universally trusted - by learners, employers, parents and other career influencers
  • Benchmark - defining excellence in both programme and delivery standards thereby raising standards
  • Brand - the vehicle for marketing the excellent solutions endorsed by the National Skills Academy

The Academy is about:

  • Excellence - the pinnacle of learning as defined by industry
  • A stamp or seal that is earned and has currency
  • Assurance based on delivery - not the promise to deliver
  • Shining a light on excellence and making it more accessible
  • Providing students, employees, employers and influencers with a brand they can trust
  • Working to support other organisations' excellent programmes
  • Workplaces, colleges and universities learning hospitality - including businesses engaged in the delivery of food, drink and accomodation services
  • A focus on management and leadership, customer service and chef skills

The Academy is not about:

  • Average programmes or delivery
  • A badge that just anyone can have
  • Simply giving the badge to existing programmes/providers and sitting back in the belief that all that was required has been done
  • Stealing other people ideas - but instead, enhancing their appeal and awareness
