NOS funeral operations review
Setting standards of performance
A national occupational standard (NOS) is a statement that describes what an individual needs to do, know and understand in order to demonstrate competence in an occupational function. People 1st works with representatives across the industry to ensure that these standards reflect the occupational competence of a given job role.
Review of national occupational standards for funeral operations
As industry, legislation and customer expectations change over time so must the standards. In 2016/17 the standards for funeral operations have come up for review and we have been working closely with industry colleagues, particularly through the National Association of Funeral Directors. The review has identified a number of changes, particularly with regard to the forthcoming regulation in Scotland.
We now need feedback from businesses on these updated standards. This is your opportunity to have your say and make sure the updates accurately reflect the competencies required. Please review the standards and share your feedback via our short online survey by 3 March 2017.

It is important to note that the standards themselves are not a qualification, but a foundation upon which qualifications and diplomas can be built.
