Aspire to Inspire!

Aspire To InspireA new book containing great guidance and examples of leadership in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector is now available to purchase.

Aspire to Inspire, written by Alan Cutler from Hospitality Leadership, is the UK's first book devoted entirely to the subject of leadership in the sector.

Part one of the book explores how leaders in the sector can inspire their people, and contains the following chapters:

  1. What is leadership?
  2. What makes a great leader?
  3. Action centred leadership
  4. The twenty-first century leader
  5. Growing hospitality leaders
  6. The enduring culture of hotel founders

Aspire to Inspire looks at selecting, training and mentoring leaders, including how to implement a leadership development strategy, and the future challenges facing hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism leaders and how they can overcome them

It also includes practical examples of how Bill Marriott, Isadore Sharp (Four Seasons) and Jasminder Singh (Radisson Edwardian) created and developed their companies, based upon sound leadership principles.

The second part of the book includes real-life stories of twelve hospitality leadership champions at team, operational and strategic levels. Case studies include how John Stauss managed his staff and customers before closing the Park Lane Four Seasons Hotel for a two-year refurbishment, the stories of two different Premier Inn managers each facing very different leadership challenges, and the application of inspirational leadership by a McDonald's restaurant manager.

Aspire to Inspire is available in paperback for £16.95 plus p&p, or as an electronic download for £7.50. You can find out more, and preview the introductory chapter of the book, at hospitalityleadership.com/aspire_to_inspire_book.html
