Council of Members

The Council is a vibrant group of CEO's, CFO's, COO's and HR Directors from the Sectors brightest companies - all of whom recognise importance of training, investment and leadership.

On the Council we have representation from Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland and account for the following industries: coffee shops, contract food service, events and conferences, gambling, holiday parks, hospitality services, hotels, membership clubs, pubs, bar and nightclubs, professional bodies, restaurants, tourism services, travel services and visitor attractions.

The Members come with a multitude of experience from plcs, large, medium and small businesses, the public sector and not for profit organisations. They are charged with the remit of representing the interests of employers and employees from across the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector, thereby ensuring that People 1st delivers what industry demands.

The Council meet as a group at least twice a year to

Constitute an advisory Board to steer the strategic direction of People 1st's activities;
Guide the Trustees on what they consider to be the Employer's requirements (whose interests they represent) for training and skills in accordance with the company's Objects;
Appoint or remove Trustees (by a majority of those present at a members meeting).

Members play a key role as “ambassadors” of People 1st, promoting its good interests and encouraging and vocalising the stakeholders they represent to support People 1st's work. Six of the Members also serve on the Board of Trustees.
