Addition of specialist function for licensed retail for hospitality team member standard
Following feedback and input from a group of licensed retail employers, professional bodies representing the licensed sector and providers working with employers a proposed addition has been drafted to the hospitality team member standard.
The addition is for a licensed retail specialism added to the standard with resultant additions to the employer occupational brief and assessment plan. The addition recognises the particular needs of the licensed retail sector and includes greater emphasis on operating as a responsible licensed retailer, rather than focusing specifically on the preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
Proposed additions are marked in orange on the documents linked below.
As the addition focuses around alcoholic beverages which were already covered in some options, those options have been streamlined to distinct sections of their own; however apart from clarification wording (highlighted in yellow) there is no material change to those specialist functions and no change to the employer brief or assessment plan. No changes are proposed to either the core or other specialist functions.
We are inviting feedback on the proposed changes from all stakeholders in the hospitality team member apprenticeship.
