Grading consultations

The following assessment plans are now open for consultation:

We are particularly seeking additional input into the grading criteria. As such you, or a member of your organisation, is invited to join the following workshops:

24 May 2016 (2pm to 5pm), London (venue to be confirmed)
Chef de partie and senior chef culinary arts

This workshop is for representatives from employers, providers and potential assessment organisations that have the relevant culinary expertise relating to these job roles (including patisserie and confectionery).

The meeting will cover:

  • Agreeing the final assessment methodology for chef de partie
  • Ensuring adequate provision of patisserie and confectionary training at level 3
  • Grading criteria for chef de partie and senior chef culinary arts

9 June 2016 (10am to 3pm), Birmingham (venue to be confirmed)
Hospitality manager

This workshop is for employers, providers and potential assessment organisations with management expertise across all hospitality departments

The meeting will cover:

  • Agreeing the final assessment methodology for a hospitality manager
  • Grading criteria

Closed consultations

Consultations for the following assessment plans have now closed and the formal submission was made to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills on Thursday 28 April 2016. Copies of the plans, as submitted, can be found below.  A decision can usually be expected within 6-8 weeks of submission - we will update this page once we are informed of the outcome.


Approved plans

The following assessment plans have been approved by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The status of each is listed below. 

Supporting documentation is now being developed and anticipated upload dates are as follows:

  • On programme progression template for the retailer, commis chef and hospitality team member standards by Friday 20 May 2016
  • Readiness for end assessment templates for all standards by the end of September 2016
